ABOUT ME & MY PSYCHOLOGY JOURNEY
Who Am I?
I am Prashanna Sharma, a curious mind passionate about understanding human behavior and mental processes. By day, I’m a student, but my true fascination lies in exploring the depths of psychology. I’m not a licensed psychologist or therapist – I’m a dedicated learner documenting my journey through this fascinating field.
My Psychology Story
My interest in psychology began when I noticed patterns in how people around me responded to stress differently, particularly within my own friend group.
When the pressure was on—be it exams, job hunts, or personal crises—our group chat would light up, but in revealing ways. One friend would flood it with memes and jokes, using humor as a shield. Another would send a dozen articles on ‘how to fix’ the problem. A third would go completely radio silent for days.
I realized we were all just trying to regulate our overwhelming emotions in the best way we knew how. This led me down a rabbit hole of learning about attachment styles, nervous system regulation (fight, flight, freeze, fawn), and the psychology of coping. I started this journey not just to understand them, but to understand myself and how we can all navigate life’s challenges with more grace and self-awareness.
That’s when I realized that understanding the ‘why’ behind our behaviors is the first step toward managing them better, and I knew I had to learn more.
Why I’m Documenting This Journey
I believe psychology should be accessible to everyone, not just academics or professionals. Through my psychology journey or this website, I aim to:
Demystify complex concepts and make them understandable
Show the real learning process – including confusion and breakthroughs
Connect theory to daily life with practical applications
Build a community of fellow psychology enthusiasts
Track my progress from beginner to knowledgeable learner
My Learning Philosophy
Curiosity over certainty
Asking questions rather than assuming answers. It is a mindset advocating for open minded exploration, and embracing the unknown, rather than rigidly holding onto what's already known, which can stifle innovation, judgment and growth.
Scientific mindset
Valuing evidence-based research while acknowledging limitations. It is the way of thinking characterised by curiosity, skepticism, and evidence based reasoning, involving asking question, forming testable hypotheses, systematically gathering data and objectively evaluating results, even if they challenge the existing beliefs
Practical Application
Always asking 'How can this improve real lives?' It means using knowledge, theories, or ideas in real world situations to solve problems, create tangible results, and demonstrate actual usefulness, bridging the gap between learning and doing for effective implementation.
Humility
Recognizing there's always more to learn in this vast field. Humility is the quality of being humble. In psychology, humility is an accurate self-perception that recognizes one's strengths and limitations, characterized by lack of arrogance, openness to learning , etc
Beyond Psychology
When I’m not immersed in psychology texts, you can find me:
About the hobby that connects to psychology – e.g., ‘observing human behavior in coffee shops’
Reading fiction that explores complex characters
practicing mindfulness and reflection.
Let's Learn Together
I don’t have all the answers – I’m learning alongside you. Your perspectives, questions, and experiences enrich my psychology journey. Whether you’re a psychology student, professional looking for refreshers, or simply curious about human behavior, there’s a place for you here.
My promise: I’ll share this learning journey with honesty, respect for science, and genuine enthusiasm for understanding what makes us human.
